 About
This E3T Technical Advisory Group is focused on a single technology group, Advanced Lighting Control Systems.
The main goal of this FlashTAG is to help Bonneville Power Administration utility programs staff prepare to administer a new controls incentive readied for the next version of their lighting calculator. Specifically, we will:
  1. Help determine what information and level of detail should be required in reports to qualify for the incentive.
  2. Prepare a list of companies and systems that will do what is needed, including tracking actual energy use.
  3. Consider the pros and cons of pre-qualifying companies.
  4. Gather accounts of actual experience with these control systems.

These technologies are being reviewed as part of this FlashTAG. Each is linked to its entry in the E3TNW.org database.

  • 117: Advanced Lighting Control Systems (ALCS) for Indoor Commercial Applications, including Wireless
  • 225: Lighting Controls for Outdoor Lighting
  • 279: LED High-Bay with Wireless Control
  • 424: Remote DC Power Supply and Control for LED Lighting

Or you can use this link to see all of the technologies being reviewed at once.

Advanced Lighting Control Systems Technology Surveys - Wednesday, April 24, 2013

TAG Scorecard Survey Links
All TAG members are asked to rate these technologies using the SurveyMonkey links below.

The five questions are standard for this survey, the TAG Scorecard. In the debrief discussion following the April 17 presentation, a TAG member noted that the first question refers to “savings per unit.” You may ignore the per unit reference, in that ALCS will not have uniform KWh savings associated with them. We especially value your comments  associated with the individual questions and technologies, so don’t hold back.

2013 Advanced Lighting Control Systems FlashTAG

April 2, 2013

PLEASE SAVE THESE DATES (times PDT):

Wednesday April 17, 2013, 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM

Thursday May 2, 2013, 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Welcome to the Advanced Lighting Control Systems FlashTAG. Thanks to all those who have agreed to participate.

We are sending this message out to all those we invited to the FlashTAG, so that all receive links to two key events, and are made aware of other FlashTAG resources even if they cannot participate this time. Future messages will go only to those who have confirmed their intent to participate at some level. If you declined already, but would like to receive FlashTAG emails, please let me know.

Anyone can keep up with the progress of this FlashTAG at the Advanced Lighting Controls TAG Portal established on E3TNW.org, where we will archive these messages, maintain a calendar, make announcements, post survey links, and direct those interested to online and other resources, beginning later this week.

Advanced Lighting Controls FlashTAG goals

The main goal of this FlashTAG is to help Bonneville Power Administration utility programs staff prepare to administer a new controls incentive readied for the next version of their lighting calculator. Specifically, we will:

  • Help determine what information and level of detail should be required in reports to qualify for the incentive.
  • Prepare a list of companies and systems that will do what is needed, including tracking actual energy use.
  • Consider the pros and cons of pre-qualifying companies.
  • Gather accounts of actual experience with these control systems.

FlashTAGs move quickly

Unlike a full TAG, which has multiple meetings to establish, rank, and score many technologies within a focus area such as Lighting, FlashTAGs zero in on a particular technology or strategy. We examine the technology and its applications and address programmatic considerations to accelerate their adoption in the region.

The full Advanced Lighting Controls TAG will convene twice, first during and after an E3T Showcase on the technology on April 17th during the noon hour. FlashTAG members will stay on the call for a half hour afterwards to debrief.

The main Advanced Lighting Controls TAG webinar event will take place May 2nd at 9:30 am ending before noon. At this meeting we will review and confirm the FlashTAG’s recommendations.

Between now and the May meeting, we will ask for your input on TAG Scorecard surveys for specific technologies under consideration, and we will likely survey members on other aspects of Advanced Lighting Controls. We will use e-mail and a listserv to exchange information throughout this FlashTAG, as well as posting material on the Portal.

The Working Group

A handful of volunteers will begin working to prepare a presentation exploring the technology for the April 17 E3T Showcase, meeting as a working group via conference calls several times beginning April 2 at 1:30. If you overlooked the opportunity to join this working group in the invitation sent Friday March 22, please contact Jack Zeiger, zeigerj@energy.wsu.edu 360 956-2017 or contact me soon. Any TAG member who wishes to be kept directly abreast of the Working Group’s progress may request to be added to the working group listserv, please contact Alan.

Please Register for the Showcase and the FlashTAG webinar

Please register now and use the GoToMeeting features in your confirmation email to add these events to your calendars. No-shows and cancellations are not a problem, so even if you are tentative, feel free to register.
